The nightmare spectre is a tougher form of spectre found in the Sony PlayStation versions of Doom, having double the hit points of ordinary spectres and demons. It appears as a demon subtractively blended against the background graphics. It is officially described as follows:
"If you liked the Spectre, you'll love his big bad brother."
― PlayStation Doom instruction manual [source]
Notes
- Nightmare spectres were featured in the Doom 64 TC, despite not appearing in the actual game.
- Nightmare imps were also present in an early beta of the PlayStation game but were removed. They later returned in Doom 64.
