A patch is a WAD file lump stored in Doom engine's picture format. Each texture is composed of one or more of these patches.
Some editing utilities, such as DeePsea, list textures with multiple patches as part of an overall map check. This is because vanilla Doom will exit with a spurious error message if the total size of such patches exceeds 64K.
