Q-Zandronum, also known as QZan, is a source port and fork by Evghenii Olenciuc, alias IgeNiaI. It is based off Zandronum 3.0 and it is focused on improving the netcode and general codebase through various Quality-of-Life additions.

Its main purpose is to serve as the engine for Quake Champions: Doom Edition, but it can be used like any other source port, providing an improved Zandronum experience in the process.

History

The first release under the Q-Zandronum moniker was v1.0.1 released on November 9, 2020. A month later, 1.1.0 and 1.1.1 were released. These releases backported several ACS specials from Zandronum and imported new DECORATE functionality from GZDoom. It also fixed compilation for 64-bit platforms and ARM. With v1.2.0, released on March 1, 2021, more bugfixes followed. This version was also selected for usage as the engine of choice for the mod Quake Champions: Doom Edition.

Version 1.2.1 followed on April 2, 2021. It fixed the bobbing in the movement but also provided more and newer screen resolutions for widescreen monitors along with various minor fixes.
