QZDoom is a fork of GZDoom with support for 32-bit true-color rendering, first released on October 18, 2016. It was created by dpJudas and Rachael Alexanderson (Eruanna). It was originally opened as a pull request against ZDoom, to replace the 8-bit software renderer with a 32-bit one, but negative responses and lack of motion toward adoption from ZDoom's core developer team eventually led to it becoming a separate project.[1]
