SLADE is a modern, open-source, cross-platform map editor (and, since version 3, also a WAD editor) for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux created and maintained by Simon Judd (with code contributions by Gez to version 3).

History

  • SLADE 1 stopped at version 1.13, released on 23 May 2006.
  • SLADE 2 reached beta on 7 June 2007, but was abandoned afterwards.
  • SLADE 3.1 was released on 20 June 2014, after over 3 years of development. It is a merging of SLADE and SLumpEd.
  • SLADE 3.1.1 was released on 28 February 2016.
  • SLADE 3.1.2 was released on 27 November 2018.
  • SLADE 3.1.5 was released on 7 May 2019.

  • Lump manipulation in WADs and ZIP (STORE and DEFLATE only at the moment)

Map editing is not finished yet, but UDMF and Doom64 EX are supported in addition to the Doom and Hexen map formats.
