SQUARES, also known as 1SQUARES and 1SQUARES.WAD, is a Doom 2 map released in March 26, 1995 by Costa Lappas. It resides in the MAP01 slot. It is notable for being one of the first slaughtermaps, with the textfile reading: "This is extremly hard if not impossible to complete on the hard level".
Bugs
- The author noted strange behavior concerning arch-viles: "If there are too many arch-viles near monsters, some of the monsters might be in clipping mode." This is an example of the ghost monster bug.
Trivia
- This may be the first slaughtermap, as indicated by idgames reviewers.
- This map was the basis for Deus Vult.
