Hashes[edit]

Are the hashes really necessary? I added them to DOOM2.WAD because they might be useful to verify that you have the right version. I don't think there's any such need for AV. Fredrik 14:02, 20 Feb 2005 (GMT)

Good question. Why not? Maybe that I want to verify if the downloaded file was not corrupted by a virus (remember the virus that used a bug in the zip format). Ducon 14:36, 20 Feb 2005 (GMT)

Links[edit]

Should we add links to reviews at the bottom of the page? such as http://www.cph.demon.co.uk/doom/du/reviews/av.html - Szymanski

Sure, go ahead. Fredrik 01:29, 7 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Mishri Halek, Mišri Halek[edit]

The text files (both versions) say Misri Halek. Ducon 17:59, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

So, Mishri Halek, Mišri Halek or Misri Halek? Mišri Halek and two redirections? Ducon 16:34, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I've never heard Mišri Halek used, just the regular Misri. Mishri Halek should not be used. That's what it was named in the original version, but it was changed in the second one. Therefore, I believe it should be treated as a corrected spelling mistake (Point Dreadful ("Dreadfull" in the first version), along with numerous other maps, also corrected mistakes). I think we should just go with Misri Halek. Even if Mišri Halek would be the truly correct way to spell it, we did not correct MAP10: Pharoas Tomb (Scythe 2) to "Pharoah's." OK, Misri Halek. Mišri Halek is of course “orthographically” correct but… Ducon 19:00, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Misri Halek on JDooM[edit]

Map 20 gives the following error if I warp to it,

P_GroupLines: Subsector a part of no sector!

When I just progress normally from Map 19 to 20, it locks up the machine, power switch fix necessary.

Any suggestions?

Uh... maybe ask the Doomsday maintainers?    Ryan W 08:35, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Black Label?[edit]

Is this a new mod based on Alien Vendetta? If so should its details be listed here or on its own article? --Quasar (talk) 10:30, 27 September 2016 (CDT)

See official site:
"01.08.2016

So here it is - 15 years later and a brand new Alien Vendetta site. The old one looked like a relic from 2002 and AV simply deserves better. vorpal had the incentive to do this and took it upon himself to do all the work here, as the rest of us have grown too old and frail for such labour.

A new sparkling design is not all he had in store for us though, there's something even better: A finetuned version of one of his more recent releases AND an all new one, neatly tucked together in a set.

There's nothing more to say really - download, get yourself some coffee and enjoy "AV Black Label". Perhaps this new wad will increase in scope in the future, if others from the crew dust of their editor and divorce their family. Until next time!"

So I don't know. I figure it could as well stay on the same article, like the various rereleases of 2002 A Doom Odyssey don't have separate articles. --Gez (talk) 10:56, 27 September 2016 (CDT)

Official par times for the second release (for partimeBot.php)[edit]

Extracted from AV.EXE (e0223bcb3881f8fe77b15e0721cc4c1bc9c22d91), offsets 0x99C34 - 0x99CB3.

Quoting from AV.TXT:

[1.7 Av.exe/deh]

The included exe file alters automap names, ingame storylines and partimes.
The partimes represent the fastest maxkill times aviable at the time of
release, rounded of. Maxkill = 100% secrets and kills on ultraviolence,
starting the maps from scratch.

Note that av.deh does not include the par times.

About D_MESSAG[edit]

Supposedly, its title is Fight the Logic If You Can. Since Chris Laverdure has recently registered an account on the Doomworld forums (https://www.doomworld.com/profile/36713-chris-laverdure/), could someone contact him to obtain the formal confirmation or denial of said title? --Diabolución (talk) 00:25, 1 January 2022 (CST)

Case closed, it is confirmed.
