This version was intended for hardware accelerated and Glide (3dFX) modes;

-- could someone verify this ; I don't remember any of the hardware accelleration until much later (1.25 or later). Glide did predate GL, though. -- Jon Dowland

I can't verify the statement in the article - I thought originally Legacy was DOS only. Bloodshedder 23:31, 29 May 2005 (UTC)
