Editing Talk:DMXOPL From DoomWiki.org Warning: You are not logged in. Your IP address will be recorded in this page's edit history. Anti-spam check. Do not fill this in! == Is this worth it? == Vfd-deleted I understand that DMXOPL is a great GENMIDI replacement and all that, but what makes it special/unique from all the other GENMIDI lump replacements? In fact another GENMIDI lump was released within this month . DMXOPL doesn't have a Cacoward, nor are people nominating it (if they are, I haven't seen them). It's not the only GENMIDI project that tries to enhance GENMIDI. It's not that big (I'm aware of its usage in an Android MIDI player app and foodumb, but is that justifiable enough?) either. I'm not dissing on DMXOPL, mind you, but rather questioning the existence of this page. Forgive me if I seem ignorant. --Voros (talk) 05:47, 23 August 2017 (CDT) :Feel free to create articles for the other GENMIDI lump replacement projects. I see no reason to delete this article, it's perfectly within the scope of the wiki. --Gez (talk) 07:53, 23 August 2017 (CDT) : As a released mod, our current consensus notability criteria are met. --Quasar (talk) 11:35, 23 August 2017 (CDT) : +1 to Gez. Part of the wiki's mission is a comprehensive technical reference. I believe there has been a presumption that any new piece of programming, regardless of popularity, is historically significant (if developed to something approaching stability): it adds to the body of research about the engine and gives modders a new tool. For the same reasons, we would document any scripting language or renderer or node builder used by a published port, no matter how few fans it had besides the port's author.
