Editing Talk:Descript From DoomWiki.org Warning: You are not logged in. Your IP address will be recorded in this page's edit history. Anti-spam check. Do not fill this in! Vfd-deleted This is just a copy of the descript text file. I'm nominating this for deletion because it's not clear with its copyright status that we can actually use it on the wiki. Furthermore, a lot of the text here isn't even in an encyclopedic style and I'm not convinced it can be salvaged for a workable article. Fraggle 17:34, 9 August 2007 (UTC) :Delete for the reasons Fraggle mentioned. -- Janizdreg 06:16, 10 August 2007 (UTC) US$0.02: The program seems to deserve an article at least as much as any other highly specialized lump editor. I used the cleanup tag because it appears that the present text could be chopped to 3-5 sentences plus a couple of bulleted lists, which would match the length and style of many existing articles about utilities (but I hesitate to do this myself, as decompilers and scripts are somewhat beyond my technical purview). Ryan W 22:49, 17 August 2007 (UTC) OK. I'll have a go at producing a simple summary simetime. --Racoward 11:16, 19 August 2007 (UTC) :Keep. Per Doom Wiki:Policies and guidelines#Editors, source ports, there seems to be a "sure, why not" policy in place. It's also the only utility within it's category (scripting utilities) and is also essential for determining how Hexen maps work; as such, deleting this page will have a bigger impact then deleting a random Doom/Hexen editor (and I'm not sure they support decompilation). I also needed to use this editor to figure out why I couldn't pass a certain level; the script contained a bug if you killed monsters too quickly. --Sigma 7 22:52, September 11, 2009 (UTC) ::Interesting! Is the bug described in our article about that map? Ryan W 00:49, September 14, 2009 (UTC) == I'm the original developer... == Just to let you know that I am the original developer of Descript, so there is no issue with copyright, as the program is freeware, and can be freely distributed anywhere and in any form. Sorry for posting such a cobbled together entry, but I came across the empty link, and thought it would be worth filling it with something relevant. Given the age of the program, and it's very limited usefulness now, I'm not sure if it's worth putting a lot of time and effort into a proper article, but I may get around to having a go sometime. So, feel free to delete the article if you want, though I don't see any harm in leaving it there.
