I think it is misleading that the new page is called "Doom 3 protagonists" as if Doom 3 introduces a number of random protagonists. The Doom 3 protagonist is the marine, and he is obviously Doom 3's version of the original "Doomguy" (who was a space marine in green armor as well). This shouldn't be obscured just because of the newer Doomslayer/Doomguy retconning. The other characters, in RoE and Lost Mission are side characters in side stories. I'm not sure, either the site should be renamed "Doom 3 protagonist", then the marine would be described as the protagonist and RoE guy and the others would be described as "other playable characters". Or you call the marine the "main protagonist" and the others "other protagonists", but that is kind of illogical because the protagonist is the main character and the others are side characters.--Tetzlaff (talk) 05:20, 5 July 2020 (CDT)

id Software has never said such a thing, that's a matter of interpretation only. Until and unless they do say such a thing, I see the current situation as fully adequate. --Quasar (talk) 19:30, 5 July 2020 (CDT)
They have never said what? English isn't my first language, so it's not always easy to make my point clear. But I try. The marine is Doom 3's protagonist and he's Doom 3's take on the classic Doom marine. Doom 3 is a reboot of classic Doom.--Tetzlaff (talk) 01:51, 6 July 2020 (CDT)

Doom 3 BFG edition manual[edit]

In response to a recent page edit claiming that: "The Doom 3 BFG edition Manuel goes as far to state that Doomguy from the original games is in fact doom marine from doom 3, but this is not canonically true." What the BFG manual actually says is the following: Step into the boots of DOOM Marine and experience his adventures for the first time, or all over again. Featuring enhanced versions of DOOM 3, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil and the all new DOOM 3: The Lost Mission, plus the classics DOOM and DOOM II, DOOM 3 BFG Edition is the consummate DOOM experience.
