::: I have reformatted the info into a table, if you'd like to see if that's to your liking, and went ahead and removed the graphics. If you were able to get in-game screenshots of the characters, there'd be no problem with those as they can be used to illustrate the characters in context. We could add them as small thumbs in a column of the table and it would look nice, in my opinion. --[[User:Quasar|Quasar]] ([[User talk:Quasar|talk]]) 01:47, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

Revision as of 20:47, 5 February 2015

Hi,

I saw on User talk:LeD Jake Crusher that there seems to be some confusion as to why the cleanup tag is on this article. I added it mainly because there are numerous grammatical errors in the article. I understand that it was probably written by the authors, who are Russian and do not speak English natively, so I'm not criticising them for this (I'm certainly having a hard time as well in learning Italian!). Clearly, though, the mistakes need to be corrected. I don't really have the time or patience to do this myself right now as it's quite a long article, but adding the cleanup tag means that the article is added to Category:Cleanup, so it might encourage someone else to fix it up.

Despite its mistakes, I thank the authors for contributing the article. It's certainly comprehensive! Fraggle 20:26, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

because there are numerous grammatical errors   Oh, that.  :>   Hopefully not too many factual mistakes would be introduced if these were fixed by someone who hadn't played the game — the plot looks rather complicated.    Ryan W 07:31, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Uh, guys, if you want, then I can remove everything in the plot, what is under the Spoiler tag. And as for mistakes - yeah, I`m gonna look through the article and correct all mistakes I will find. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by LeD Jake Crusher (talkcontribs) .

No one suggested that.  It's just that when fixing a grammatical error, sometimes the original author's intention has to be guessed, and the guess might be wrong.  A necessary evil in encyclopedia writing, since not everything can be copy-edited by an expert (I certainly wouldn't have lasted long in that case  :>    Ryan W 12:53, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

So, you`re trying to say that there could be mistakes in the descrption of the game`s plot? Allright then - please wait for English release. Currently I am testing the English version of the game. And then, after you`ll play, someone from you will be able to write the plot section much better than me. :) - LeD Jake Crusher

Beta-test is almost over!

Allright, guys - beta test is almost complete! All I have to do is just check it`s grammatical mistakes - and then Klon will release the game.

Full English Release is near (added by Klon)

It's been a long time from last update but don't worry. English translation is testing for more qualified English Language (just to show this game on http://gamingw.net/ - users'll be shocked!). Don't worry - this page isn't about another "zero" project!

Guys, we need your help!

The testing of the game is almost finished! But...we need your help. As someone from above have noticed, there are grammatical mistakes in the article. The thing is that I think that I`ve made them also in the translation text, because English is not my mothertongue. So, could anyone help us by spell-checking? To find and correct grammatical mistakes, or to change a phrase or sentence? Please - help us! I promise that in return, I`ll mention those, who will help us, in the game`s end screen as helpers of English translation! --LeD Jake Crusher 10:28, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

About this article

OK, the game (it`s English version, to be more precise) is released. And since this "cleanup" tag is still on this article, I can suggest that somebody will download the game, play it, and will correct any mistakes in the article. Maybe someone can do that? --LeD Jake Crusher 21:26, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

The download link is broken.

Can you please fix it?

I don't speak Russian, so I could be wrong, but the official download site and news site appear to be gone and not archived.  It's a shame — as you can read above, the guy from the project was assured that the cleanup tag was only temporary, until someone got around to playing the English version and reviewing the plot and gameplay sections.    Ryan W 14:21, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi again, I found a working download link thanks to the Internet Archive: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.etd-game.org/files/EtD1Setup.exe 90.225.93.214 22:14, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

I am back. :)

Alright, guys, I'm back. After so many years of non-editing here, I've finally found some time to edit this article, although I am quite surprised nobody did that while the English version of EtD1 was available. Oh well, c'est la vie, it would seem. I've redone the article (separately, in the txt.file), but before I'll post it here, I want to ask - how to put screens properly in this article? Is there any good template that you can advise me? Because I don't want to screw up, y'know...

And yes, about the English version of EtD1. I'll talk with Klon about how I can restore it in the Internet.

Thanks in advance!--LeDJakeCrusher (talk) 16:00, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Character pics

Are the avatar and sprites for all the characters really needed? I tend not to think so. The wiki isn't supposed to serve as a game manual IMO. --Gez (talk) 18:25, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

I would ordinarily tend toward no, though apparently this is a hard-to-come-by mod. If the sprites are properly licensed I wouldn't have a problem with keeping them. I think the avatars are overkill and most of them are probably copyright viols - I removed the ones that were the most egregious already (infringing on various movie characters mostly). If the sprites end up being kept, it should be reformatted into a table though, so it flows better. --Quasar (talk) 20:02, 10 January 2015 (UTC)
Well, the reason of them being here is that I decided to give more "detailed information" about the game and it's content (still, I don't think that this article in some ways can be "game manual"). Though I won't deny this might be "a bit more than it should be". So, if they are useless to the doomwiki - you can do what you want to do with them. --LeDJakeCrusher (talk) 20:04, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

New images that weren't speedy-deleted

Quasar unlinked the deleted images, saying Removing broken links; rest of images/article content need review.  So if anyone wants to check out the files, they are:

For argument's sake, I'll assume this isn't a vanity page — the game is the Russian-language equivalent of Action Doom.  :>   The second and third groups still need to go, IMO, because we've never allowed resource rips without explicit permission.  If there's evidence of that, wonderful, but it needs to be pointed out.

The community has yet to agree on the appropriate density of screen shots in an article, although ideally (as elsewhere) the walkthrough would be detailed enough that images were actually helpful in identifying landmarks.    Ryan W (talk) 23:56, 2 February 2015 (UTC)

Keep all screenshots. Delete rest unless someone can research what license this mod is under and it turns out to be available as open content. --Quasar (talk) 04:03, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
Ditto Quasar (delete non-screenshots), out of consistency with the rest of the wiki. --Gez (talk) 14:50, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

OK, I removed all screenshots, as well as character's descriptions. Hope this solves the problem. --LeDJakeCrusher (talk) 22:03, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
