Talk:Fast doors make two closing sounds

This one is a stub, because my understanding of our expository potential has changed. Shame on you! :D Ryan W 00:40, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

These code excerpts are wonderful, in case I haven't said that 667 times already.  But this particular one doesn't seem to explain why the sound works correctly when the player closes the door "by hand".  If the miscoded check is performed whenever a blaze door moves downward, it should play the sound a second time in that case also, and it doesn't.   Ryan W 03:16, 25 Sep 2005 (UTC)

It also doesn't explain why the same thing happens in doom 64 on the N64, you would think they would have looked into the bug and maybe fixed it. I saw it happen a single time in doom 3, and I haven't been able to duplicate it so I don't know what that was, probably a one time instance of 2 doors closing at once, but it regularly happens in Doom 64. I don't know about the TC, just the console version. B10Reaper 19:07, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

I don't think this is a bug...Edit

This is simply too obvious for being considered a "bug". I guess the programmers just noticed that the "single" door closing sound somehow sucks, and were too lazy to contact the sound designer to make a different one, so they just doubled it through a code patch.

Patch for this bugEdit

Anyone remembers a patch that fixed this bug being posted on Doomworld?

There was a thread where it was posted but the link was dead, because it has been a long time. There was also one for the ouch face posted on Doomworld. I think they were posted around 2005. --Axdoomer (talk) 21:57, 21 February 2017 (CST)
