Are the HK's sound really just higher pitched Baron sounds? The HK's sight sound goes up in pitch with time while the Barons go down in pitch. --TheDarkArchon 00:20, 12 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Well, according to banned user CyberdemonZ of Newdoom, the Baron of Hell sounds like "a messed up speeding ferrari". Comparing the sound effects in CoolEdit, the sight sounds are similar but not the same, but the death sounds are very different. It would be fascinating to know more about the sound design of Doom. Perhaps the programmers bought some library CDs of jungle animals. -Ashley Pomeroy 20:38, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

The article quotes from the Doom 2 manual, and says that "this was originally the description for the Baron of Hell". I'm not sure what this means. I interpret it to mean that the quoted description was used in the Doom 1 manual to describe the Hell Knight, but it's not clear. This is how Wikipedia explains the paragraph, but I'd prefer to have it in writing from someone who has read the manuals, or has the manuals in front of them (and which manuals, PC, Playstation, Nintendo 64?). -Ashley Pomeroy 20:38, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

Manual description[edit]

The article quotes from the Doom 2 manual, and says that "this was originally the description for the Baron of Hell". I'm not sure what this means. I interpret it to mean that the quoted description was used in the Doom 1 manual to describe the Hell Knight, but it's not clear. This is how Wikipedia explains the paragraph, but I'd prefer to have it in writing from someone who has read the manuals, or has the manuals in front of them (and which manuals, PC, Playstation, Nintendo 64?). -Ashley Pomeroy 20:38, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

That phrase is the wording used by the Doom and Ultimate Doom manuals to describe the Baron of Hell. In the Doom II manual, the Baron's description is something akin to "the same thing as the Hell Knight, but tougher". Bloodshedder 20:54, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
