Editing Talk:Id Software From DoomWiki.org Warning: You are not logged in. Your IP address will be recorded in this page's edit history. Anti-spam check. Do not fill this in! == Near Future == this page should contain information about the plans of ID about Doom!! a possible doom 4?? wikipedians need to know!!.. i don't so please expand this article with that info if possible. == Title == The title Id Software is used, presumably due to technical limitations, but how is it that the Wikipedia has managed to use id Software? Wouldn't it be possible here as well? Who is like God? 01:39, 15 March 2008 (UTC) : AFAICT wikipedia is usually a couple of MediaWiki versions ahead of us. You could dig around in the revision histories of the wikipedia help pages to determine when this feature was implemented. Or ask on the wikia listserv. (Or just try it and see if it works, but I'm leery of recommending that nowadays.) Ryan W 18:41, 17 March 2008 (UTC) == Capitalization == Looking at the Data Utility License, I notice they consistently use "Id Software" in that. describes the only terms by which Id Software, Inc., ("Id") 1) LICENSE: Id Software hereby grants 2) OWNERSHIP RIGHTS: You acknowledge that Id owns all right And so on. Maybe we can relax the style guideline of always using the non-standard lower-casing of Id Software's name? --Gez (talk) 15:10, 23 November 2015 (CST) : Use of it capitalized was more common in the early 90's. It has since become almost non-existent. All the material coming out of ZeniMax-owned id has "id" on it. I think even before the acquisition they had largely settled on it. I believe consistency is important. When the same phrase appears with multiple different capitalizations between different articles, within the same article, or even in the same paragraph with no other good reason for it than someone's personal opinion, it looks sloppy and hurts readability. --Quasar (talk) 16:50, 23 November 2015 (CST) : Here's a quick poll of some relevant (self-owned, social media, journalistic, encyclopedic, or business) sites in the top 20 hits on Google and the style they use: {| prettySortable |- !
