:I was under the impression that no vanilla doom supported midi files directly.  Unfortunately, poking around to confirm this didn't find me much.  Because the original sound code was gutted for the source release, looking at linuxdoom-1.10 or another source port probably wouldn't help much, and I'm not very familiar with the sound code layout anyway.  But, I did notice that the original BOOM documentation mentions midi support under "Wad extensions in BOOM phase I", and BOOMEDIT.WAD also mentions the ability to use midis directly as a boom feature, which suggests that it was not available vanilla.  Hopefully someone else knows more. I was under the impression that no vanilla doom supported midi files directly. Unfortunately, poking around to confirm this didn't find me much.
