I -really- want to say that a Machinima article doesn't really belong in a Doom wiki - after all, there's a great one on Wikipedia - but otherwise, my basis for that is that there are only two Doom machinimas in existence, and IMO they both suck. :P I would argue that they are negligible and machinima does not yet exist for Doom.

Machinima didn't exist until after the release of Quake. I believe it's theoretically POSSIBLE in Vanilla Doom (especially if you dub voices in later, unlike Quake movies that sported speech during demo playback) but most likely anybody who's inspired enough would make their machinima in an engine that supports scripting. "Imp Encounter" uses ZDoom, for example.

US$0.02:  Machinima is a far more general concept than its application to the Doom engine or to the Quake engine.  For example, we have an article on sprites, but we don't give a technical definition of "sprite", we just link to the Wikipedia article.  This situation is similar.

Actually, I would argue that the field of "video-based Doom fanfic" is insufficiently prominent to be split off into an animation article, a parody article, a machinima article, etc.  If there are only two known examples of machinima, fine — just list them in Fan-made Doom movies and link to the Wikipedia article for a definition.  Which is almost how it is now...    Ryan W 16:23, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

I fully agree with Ryan W - this article should be deleted (or made into a redirect) and the list of Doom machinima added to the Fan-made Doom movies article, along with a link to the Wikipedia's machinima article. -- Janizdreg 01:37, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
