Editing Talk:PWAD (section) From DoomWiki.org Warning: You are not logged in. Your IP address will be recorded in this page's edit history. Anti-spam check. Do not fill this in! == Total number of released PWADs everywhere ever? == ''The aggregate number of PWADs in existence is indeterminate, though a five-figure total seems possible'' A five-figure total seems all but certain, actually, given that some of [https://www.doomworld.com/vb/doom-general/43543-how-many-doom-wads-made-so-far/ these people] claim to have downloaded their entire collection from public archives. In the original version of this paragraph, I was trying (and apparently failing) to answer two questions. First, when Doom was most popular, how much duplication was there among the various internet collections? Second, if we add all those collections together, how many *un*released WADs would have to exist in order to push the sum over 100,000? [[User:Ryan W|Ryan W]] 18:33, 21 August 2008 (UTC) Now that I think about it, what about the Doomworld/idgames number itself? If the database says it has 15,407 files or whatever, how many of those are ''not'' WADs? (I would suspect LMPs to be the next most numerous.) [[User:Ryan W|Ryan W]] 18:40, 21 August 2008 (UTC) Addendum: I'm not going to edit war over the specific number 100,000 because it's probably impossible to calculate definitively. Given that people are actually reporting five-figure totals, however [https://www.doomworld.com/vb/doom-general/24153-a-look-at-my-doom2-folder/], "possible" still seems too weak.
