I was wondering if it's worth listing trivia like the pistol's sprite appearing in other games. One example is this blatant sprite rip in an official Konami game: http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/goemon/goemon4-awesome1.png

On that note, is it worth the mention how the Jag port of Wolf3D uses some modified Doom sprites for some of the weapons.Betabox (talk) 22:55, 23 June 2017 (CDT)

: Fair question.  Doom references in other games comes to mind.  OTOH most of those are hastily scribbled easter eggs, not actual ripped graphics (I recall the Tony Hawk bit as nearly unrecognizable).  Family Guy's mashup, for example, is described in both places.  Whatever you decide, trivia belongs in trivia sections, not the lead paragraph, in case that isn't obvious.  HTH.    Ryan W (usually gone) 00:30, 24 June 2017 (CDT)

The images for the pistol in Doom were most likely created from the . . .   This statement seems inconsistent with Development of Doom, which asserts that the pistol sprites were created in a similar way to the shotgun sprites.  I looked through the bibliography for the latter, but didn't see any reference to the pistol graphics.    Ryan W 23:40, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Assuming both are true, it could simply be that the toy pistol purchased looked like a Beretta 92. This would have been before the craze to make toy guns always look non-real. I can't really make too much out from the in game sprite though... Goyuken 04:43, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
