:: Yes.  At some point there was a discussion about primary source terminology which was mutually inconsistent, e.g. ''Sergeant'' vs ''Shotgun guy'', ''BFG 9000'' vs ''BFG9000''.  It was eventually decided that strings visible ingame have first priority, as everything else is optional from the player's perspective (do Bethesda's rereleases even include manuals?).  IIRC most of the credit goes to myk, highly skilled at summoning order from chaos.  HTH.  [[User talk:Ryan W|Ryan W]] ''([[User:Ryan W|living fossil]])'' 07:30, 31 March 2020 (CDT)

Damage rate[edit]

User:193.60.163.171 changed

"Due to its high damage rate (three times that of the chaingun)"

to

"Due to its high damage rate (A third faster than that of the chaingun)"

with the edit summary (Three times faster? I don't think so).

Chaingun: 525.0 bullets/minute × 10 hp/bullet = 5250 hp/minute.

Plasma gun: 700.0 cells/minute × 22.5 hp/cell = 15750 hp/minute.

This kind of calculation doesn't really have four-digit precision because of the finite size of m_random.c, but still, how is that not a factor of 3?    Ryan W 18:28, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Page name[edit]

> The plasma gun (also known as the plasma rifle in the game manuals, help screen and code comments)

If everything official calls it the plasma rifle, should we just rename the article? Fraggle (talk) 19:45, 22 March 2020 (CDT)
