Talk:Slaughter map

New links[edit]

Hello, I've added a fairly large number of new links to existing entries for slaughter maps, based on an old handwritten list of mine I kept back in the day when I played these a lot. I hope the article isn't too long now; the idea isn't to overload it with details, but rather to point fans of slaughter maps to the material that's out there so they can enjoy it. Given I spent ~90 minutes looking up entries for levels and copying my notes, I feel disappointed. Way to make a good first impression, Doomwiki. My first edits will also be my last I guess. The edit remains in the history section, which you can directly improve upon without the need of having to re-copy everything. But the huge list I'm afraid is not something that fits in the article as it is, because it's far too long. I appreciate the enthusiasm, but just because one spends a lot of time on an edit or article, that doesn't mean they have to be kept at all costs. Some of your other changes could be reinstated if you provided a source, i.e., "also known as blastfests" according to what source? --Dynamo128 (talk) 08:12, 17 December 2023 (CST)
As for the list itself, we already have a a category: indeed that is the point of categories, to make finding things and sorting them easier. You are free to add the category to map pages that are slaughtermaps but are not indicated as such, if you'd like. --Dynamo128 (talk) 08:13, 17 December 2023 (CST)
Strictly speaking, your edit was never "up" because it was never approved. And I understand that nobody likes having their work undone - it happens to us all! Don't get discouraged because your first edits didn't go through.
But...I agree with Dynamo here - there is no point trying to create a list of every slaughter map ever created as they're impossible to maintain, and we already have a category for that. And I've been lurking on Doom forums for years and never heard the term "blastfest" used once, so it would have to be sourced. Gauss (talk) 11:03, 17 December 2023 (CST)
