Talk:Unmaker

From DoomWiki.org

Is it not true that the firing method when all 3 demon keys (pentagram items?) have been obtained for the unmaker differ between the Doom 64 TC and Doom 64 N64 version? Worth a mention?

Not officially named Unmaker[edit]

[1] Back in January Tim Heydelaar confirmed on Doomworld that the Unmaker wasn't officially named the Unmaker-in fact, it had no official name! Should it be changed to something like "Laser Weapon" ala the Icon of Sin's page being named "Final Boss" or no? --SgtNateV (talk) 15:39, 10 April 2019 (CDT)

Unmaker could prove to be ultimately non-canonical, but I feel that one dev's fallible word isn't quite enough to warrant an article renaming, as a few of the other things Tim said were known to be not quite as he remembered them (for example, the Breakdown Easter egg was removed whereas he believed it to still be present). He was not, after all, able to debunk the notion or possibility that it was inspired by the Doom Bible. The other names are equally non-canonical expansions from resources and from magazine articles. For now I would prefer that we leave it alone, and instead make a note of what Tim said. I can of course be overruled by community consensus, but it has been known by the community at large by this name for so long that I feel it would be damaging to not reflect that somewhere prominently. --Quasar (talk) 21:18, 10 April 2019 (CDT)

Suggested moratorium on moves[edit]

There's a brigade going on on social media suggesting that this page be moved. I'm going to suggest otherwise due to the pending re-release of Doom 64 on March 20, which I am pretty damn sure is going to have an opinion of its own on the matter. --Quasar (talk) 10:42, 31 January 2020 (CST)

Real damage[edit]

wikia version of page states 10-150 damage per shot, doomwiki version states 10-80 per shot. which is real? Mussharraf Hossen Shoikot (talk) 06:27, 24 November 2020 (CST)

The latest edits have not yet been reviewed/approved by someone familiar with the topic, but I think line 1387 in the code ( damage = ((P_Random() & 7) * 10) + 10; ) confirms the 10-80 damage. --Xymph (talk) 06:36, 24 November 2020 (CST)
