The player wielding the tempest wand while standing in front of a wand pickup.

The tempest wand is a weapon added to Heretic by the Faith Renewed expansion. In single-player it can only be found in the expansion's secret level, E1M9: Pocket Plane.

The tempest wand shares a weapon slot with the Elven wand and also uses wand crystals as ammo. It has a similar appearance to the Elven wand, but the crystal is blue and the eyes underneath the crystal are red. The tempest wand holds a maximum of 100 crystals, or 200 with a Bag of Holding.

Attacks[edit]

When unpowered, the wand fires a fast-moving blue projectile. If the projectile hits an enemy, a blue beam will arc from the point of impact and hit up to two other nearby enemies. Each shot from the unpowered wand consumes five crystals.

When enhanced by a Tome of Power, the wand fires a large blue projectile that moves more slowly, but rips through enemies. Upon hitting a surface or solid object, the projectile explodes and arcs blue beams to several nearby enemies, similar to the tracers emitted by Doom's BFG9000. The player is immune to the explosion caused by the main projectile. The beams emitted by the powered projectile have a much longer range than the unpowered version, but can only target enemies with a direct line of sight. Each shot from the powered wand consumes 25 crystals.
