The map originates from a competition held at iddqd.ru between July and August 2012, during which a map created by a random map generator would be modified extensively but while maintaing the initial map's [[vertex]]es and without exceeding the rectangle outlined around the initial map for gameplay areas. Shadowman embellished the map through heavy use of GZDoom effects and custom resources, making it stand out even among other thematically similar works by the author such as the [[Cheogsh]] and [[Kobal]] series. The Inquisitor is a single-level Doom II PWAD, created by Shadowman and released on October 7, 2012. It consists of a large map for the GZDoom engine, dubbed "The Land of the Damned", in which the player wakes up without any initial weapons, and will have to face many new undead monsters and utilise unique weapons and items in their quest to escape.

The map originates from sixth Freakmapping contest held at Doom Power forum between July and August 2012, during which a map created by a random map generator would be modified extensively but while maintaing the initial map's vertexes and without exceeding the rectangle outlined around the initial map for gameplay areas. Shadowman embellished the map through heavy use of GZDoom effects and custom resources, making it stand out even among other thematically similar works by the author such as the Cheogsh and Kobal series. Two sequels, The Inquisitor 2 and The Inquisitor III, would be released in 2013 and 2016 respectively.

Secrets[edit]

  1. In the starting area, head to the rooftop of the building with the ladder and jump southeast across the gate and into the graveyard beyond, where you can get a fléchette, a quartz flask, a crossbow bolt, and a pipe of confusion. (sector 1272)
  2. In the starting area, head onto the road until you get to the first building, then jump on the cross north of it. Use that to jump to the building's rooftop, then from there, jump northwest over the gate to get a mystic urn. (thing 517 via thing 518, ZDoom's "secret trigger" actor)
  3. After you get the gold key, return to the room where you fought the skull wizard and head to the south end. Shoot the switch here to lower the bookshelf, revealing crystal vials and an Icon of the Defender. (sector 1592)
  4. Enter the prison area at the west side and enter the first cell on the right. Press on the east wall and crouch to get a quartz flask and a pipe of confusion. (sector 1830)
  5. Enter the prison area at the west side and enter the fourth cell on the right. Press on the east wall and crouch to get a quartz flask and a torch. (sector 1814)
  6. When you teleport to the east side of the king's tomb, use the wall behind you to lower the north and south walls with purple mana and quartz flasks. (sector 2949)
  7. At the southeast end of the southeast maze, head west until you reach the second alcove. Lower the north wall and you can remove two poison breath traps in the room north of here. (sector 3292)
  8. In Secret #7, lower the west wall to get shotgun shells, quartz flask, purple mana, and a third switch to shut off a poison breath trap. (sector 3220)
