- January 26 - The first version of the Doom Editing Utilities is released.
- March 7 - The first public third-party PWAD, the Origwad, is released. [2]
- March 11 - CROSS.WAD is released. [3]
- March 24 - E2M1ED.WAD is announced on Usenet. [4]
- June 10 - Crossing Acheron is released in version 0.0.
- June 23 - Doomsday of UAC is released.
- June 28 - Slaughter Until Death, the first WAD created by The Innocent Crew, is released.
- August 10 - Return to Phobos is released.
- August 22 - The Unholy Trinity is released.
- October 1 - The Evil Unleashed is released
- October 19 - Aliens TC is released, becoming the first total conversion.[1]
- October 30 - Version v2.0 of the first installment of Serenity Trilogy, Serenity, is released.
- November 7 - Version v1.1 of Eternity is released.
1995
- January - The Lost Episodes of Doom is published.
- May 11 - Infinity, the final part of Serenity Trilogy, is released.
- May 14 - The Innocent Crew releases the final version (1.1) of Obituary.
- May 17 - The Final Gathering is released.
- June 9 - A deathmatch-focused WAD called Boothill is released. Later that year, A Fistful of Doom, the UK answer for the previously mentioned WAD, is released.
- June 13 - The Artifact (WAD) is released in its first, full state.
- August 29 - Fava Beans is released.
- September - The Abyss is released.
- October 28 - TNT: Evilution is announced delayed in favor of a commercial release as one half of Final Doom.[2]
- November 13 - Nostromo's Run is released after a year of development.
- December 10 - Memento Mori is initially released.[3]
- December 18 - H2H-Xmas is released.
1996
- January 24 - Polygon Base is released.
- February 10 - Memento Mori is initially uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- March 21 - Icarus: Alien Vanguard is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- March 29 - The Troopers' Playground is released. One of the WAD's levels occupying MAP06 slot will become part of Requiem in the future in MAP09 slot.
- April 12 - 99 Ways to Die is released.
- April 17 - A Hidden Mountain Factory is released.
- May 14 - Dystopia 3 is released.
- July 17 - All Hell is Breaking Loose is released.
- July 27 - Memento Mori II is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- August 1 - Army of Darkness TC is released, both for Doom and Doom II.
1997
- February 22 - The first episode of Mordeth called "The City of Babel" is uploaded to the /idgames archive. From that point on, there is no particular information about the rest of the WAD's release.
- May 2 - Hell Revealed is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- May 11 - Chord NG, the third installment of the Chord series is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- June 15 - Dawn of the Dead, an episode replacement for Knee-Deep in the Dead is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- June 19 - The Talosian Incident is released.
- June 24 - STRAIN, a partial conversion for Doom II is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- July 4 - Requiem is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- July 12 - GothicDM, a deathmatch exclusive WAD, is released.
- August 2 - Hell's Eventide is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- November 14 - Eternal Doom is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
1998
- January 19 - The Darkening is originally released.
- March 27 - Venom is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- April 17 - Cyberdreams, a WAD focusing on killing Cyberdemons, is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- April 30 - Run Buddy, one of the first WADs created for the Boom source port, is uploaded to the /idgames archive in its original state.
- May 2 - GothicDM 2, the sequel to GothicDM, is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- May 8 - Odessa 14 subtitled "Savage Morals", the final installment of the Odessa series, is uploaded to the /idgames archive in version 2.1.
- June 20 - Crestfallen is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- July 24 - Phobos (WAD) is originally released.
- July 30 - Dickie 10, the final installment of the Dickie series, is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- August 7 - Earth (WAD) is originally released.
- August 15 - Tantrum 2 is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- November 15 - Twilight Warrior is originally released on Doomworld

- January 7 - The Darkening is uploaded to the /idgames archive in version 1.1.
- January 30 - Wow.wad is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- April 3 - Chord G is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- April 6 - KZDoom1 is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- May 21 - Assault on Tei Tenga is released.
- May 23 - The ZDoom version of Earth (WAD) is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- July 11 - Jägermörder 1: Chemical Lab is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- September 4 - Crusades is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
2000
- January 28 - Herian 2, originally released around 1999, is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- March 17 - Demonfear, a compilation of six WADs created by Adam Windsor between 1995 and 1999, is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
2001
- November 14 - Nuts.wad is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
2002
- December 26 - Alien Vendetta is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
2003
- July 1 - Initial release of the Doom 64 TC.
- December 10 - TeamTNT releases its first ZDoom-targeted mod, Daedalus: Alien Defense.
2004
- January 29 - Batman Doom, originally released around 1999, is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
- May 28 - Deus Vult is released.
2007
- June 2 - Initial release of Knee-Deep in ZDoom.
- July 16 - Demons of Problematique is released and is later named a Cacowards runner-up.
2008
- August 24 - UAC Military Nightmare is uploaded to the /idgames archive.
2009
- September 20 - Demons of Problematique 2 is released and later wins a Cacoward.
- October 22 - Deus Vult Zero is released.
2010
- February 28 - BioShock level designer Jean-Paul LeBreton publishes a noted design analysis on Doom and releases Arcadia Demade, a Doom II version of a BioShock level.[4]
- March 28 - UAC Ultra is released.
- September 4 - The Brutal Doom gameplay mod is initially released.[5]
- October 8 - Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch is released to the public after a demo debut at the ScrewAttack Gaming Convention.
- October 9 - Hacx v1.2 is released as a stand-alone IWAD.
2015
- February 14 - The first version of InstaDoom is released. It wins the Mockaward for 2015.
- June 13 - Sunlust is released and later wins a Cacoward.
- August 17 - Don't Be A Bitch Remastered is released and later wins a Cacoward.
2016
- January 15 - John Romero releases his first Doom PWAD in 21 years. Tech Gone Bad is a single level for limit-removing ports and is an alternate take on E1M8: Phobos Anomaly.[6]
- April 26 - John Romero releases a second Doom PWAD, Phobos Mission Control, as an alternate take on E1M4: Command Control.
2019
- May 22 - John Romero's SIGIL is released in the form of limited editions, which began to ship on this date. On May 31, the WAD was released as a free download.
2022
- March 2 - John Romero releases his first Doom II PWAD in over 27 years.[7] One Humanity is a single level for limit-removing ports, sold for €5.00 with all proceeds going towards supporting the humanitarian relief efforts in the wake of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine.
