This is a Doom Wiki user page.

This is not an encyclopedia article.  If you find this page on any site other than doomwiki.org, you are viewing a mirror site.  Be aware that the page may be outdated and that the user to whom this page belongs has no personal affiliation with any such site.  The original page is located at http://doomwiki.org/wiki/User:Ryan_W.

Doom is one of the 12 most important video games ever.  It deserves a complete reference work for posterity.  That is why I am here.

This account has accumulated 14893 visible edits, 137 deleted edits, and 3883 logged actions.  Does that make me an influential community member, a skilled FPS player, or the overlord of the wiki?  Absolutely not.  If you need Doom-related information that our articles don't provide, please click here.

I can sometimes be found in  #doomwiki  on OFTC.  The channel was created over my objections — our decision-making is supposed to be inclusive and transparent — but now that it's here, the more users participate the better.

If you need administrator assistance with an issue you don't want to discuss publicly, try emailing one (most have either a personal web site or an active Doomworld account).

Name origin

My first contribution to an online gaming resouce was to the excellent Ice Climber walkthrough by Popo2002, who quite sensibly suggested that I be credited under a handle.  I named myself after the chap who graciously lent me Ice Climber (and many of its godawful NES contemporaries) at a time when I was completely broke and couldn't even afford weekend rentals.  In addition to uncounted hours of AD&D and tokusatsu LARPing, he was also my introduction to combinatorics, Dire Straits, and the Ninja Turtles (not bad, eh?).  He eventually went off to the Joe Kubert School and I don't know what happened to him, but I hope he is still alive and creating things.

Anyway, before all that, we were in first grade together and he was never called "Ryan", but always "Ryan W", because there was another Ryan in the class as well.

For doing a lot of work on various articles that I would personally find very repetative to do personally. (All I see in recent changes at times are your edits) Thank you. TheDarkArchon 02:35, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
