Hacx screenshots[edit]

Hey, thanks for taking the time to update the Hacx screenshots with higher quality versions. I wanted to point out however, that some of the screenshots you are posting seem to be using sub-optimal settings: there appears to be a gamma filter of some kind that makes everything way too bright and washed out, and also, the hud looks incorrect at that scaling. What source port are you using, and with which settings? --Dynamo128 (talk) 14:55, 22 January 2022 (CST)

I was using XDRE 2.20 which always puts gamma at maximum and ignores ingame brightness. It's quite convenient for screenshot making because you edit the movie frame-by-frame and pick a good angle. HUD condition depends on the resolution. If I stretch the window, empty bars appear on the sides of the HUD. -- Dimon12321 (talk) 16:28, 22 January 2022 (CST)
While the ones I saw illustrating items are fine, for general gameplay situations this won't be considered acceptable I'm afraid. Our policies on screenshots include the following requirements:
  • Vanilla mods (such as HacX) must have shots which reasonably resemble the vanilla game engine's appearance; this means no source port deviations in status bar or HUD for one
  • Reasonable gamma/brightness
It's not "against the rules" necessarily to upload such images (and images with problems are sometimes accepted when alternatives are difficult to get - which shouldn't be the case here - anything from Choco Doom to GZDoom can be reasonably configured to take accurate shots of this mod), just strongly discouraged. --Quasar (talk) 19:49, 22 January 2022 (CST)
Got it. I'll keep it in mind when uploading images. -- Dimon12321 (talk) 07:16, 23 January 2022 (CST)

Image query[edit]

Hello. Quasar has asked a question at File talk:D32XR Map7.png - since you uploaded the picture you will probably be the best person to answer it. Gauss (talk) 05:50, 21 February 2022 (CST)

Huge screenshot[edit]

Hi, this shot uses an extremely high resolution, which is unnecessary as the situation could be illustrated just as well with e.g. a 1280x800 image. The huge image takes up 1.5 MB which is problematic as the server is slowly running out of disk space. Can you rescale the shot to that reasonable resolution and re-upload (using "Upload a new version of this file")? Then the initial revision can be deleted from the site and (by way of exception) also manually deleted from the file system. If you can't or won't, I will do it but that changes ownership on the image. And it was your idea so it would be fair that it remains your contribution. --Xymph (talk) 10:26, 20 March 2023 (CDT)

Yeah, I didn't pay attention to it. I've updated it. Dimon12321 (talk) 14:59, 20 March 2023 (CDT)
