Do not fill this in! == Edit notices == I saw your note on Taw Tulki's talk page about warnings being ignored and decided to bring my response here rather than clog their page up. I can think of two possible options: # Apply an Wikipedia:Editnotice to contentious pages that carries a similar warning as ConsensusContentionMsg. Anyone trying to edit such pages would then see the notice at the top of the page - the problem is that if they ignore the big red box at the top of the article, they'll probably ignore the big red box on the edit page as well. # Apply semi-protection to the affected articles to stop any editing by new/unregistered users. I don't favour this option personally as Pending Changes/FlaggedRevs already requires edits from those groups of people to be reviewed before the average viewer actually sees them, and all this would do is discourage potential editors. On the other hand, it doesn't matter what you do - some people will always find ways to not do what you tell them. Gauss (talk) 13:18, 9 November 2021 (CST) : Unfortunately option 1 uses a "fmbox" template which is an #invoke, meaning it is implemented using Wikipedia's Scribunto plugin, which we don't support here because I think it's crazy to write web frontend code in Lua. --Quasar (talk) 17:49, 25 November 2021 (CST) : You're forced to include the Lua piece regardless of the inner template used? That's rude. IIRC though, many templates worked just fine before Scribunto rolled out, including this one. We could try importing the historical snapshot if there's a clear use for it. : FWIW, Gauss, it's supposed to be relatively easy to post a custom boxed message with the standardized templates Quasar implemented (stupid example). However, for registered users, a talk page message is safer because MediaWiki has longstanding issues with templates/banners not displaying on mobile. (It affects Wikipedia much more often because of the huge amount of custom JS/CSS, but I remember hitting it here occasionally.) HTH. Ryan W (living fossil) 09:45, 18 December 2021 (CST) :: As far as Scribunto-backed templates go (aka Modules), you would be reimplementing everything in template markup, which means doing it from scratch. And unfortunately there have been a lot of renames and subsequent deletions on Wikipedia that have made it impossible to access the edit history of a lot of templates from before they installed Scribunto. --Quasar (talk) 19:18, 18 December 2021 (CST) Summary: All contributions to DoomWiki.org are considered to be released under the CC BY-SA 4.0 International (see Doom Wiki:Copyrights for details).
