Uwe Girlich

From DoomWiki.org

Uwe Girlich is a programmer probably best known for developing LMPC, The Little Movie Processing Centre, and documenting the LMP demo format. Additionally he documented the Quake DEM, QuakeWorld QWD, Quake II DM2, and Duke Nukem 3D and Redneck Rampage DMO formats to a greater or lesser extent, most of them with reverse engineering contributions from Steffen Winterfeldt.

Uwe also was active as a Doom speedrunner during 1995-1996 and submitted 40 demos to Compet-n. However, like Steffen's runs, several of his demos came under scrutiny by the speedrunning community and were determined to have been cheated via TAS methods.[1][2][3][4] All his demos are preserved for historical reasons, but tagged as cheated or dubious on the Doom Speed Demo Archive.

In March 2000, Uwe launched the OpenDemo project with the goal of establishing a general demo format for Quake III Arena and other id Tech 3 engine games that is open and better suited for machinima purposes.
