Doom
Doom Alpha
Early alpha releases of Doom armed the player with a semi-automatic rifle, optionally equipped with a double-bladed bayonet as a melee weapon. [1] This was not included in the finished game. The firing sequence animation was unique, and revealed the player character to be wearing elbow pads, which can be seen on the player character sprite.
The player character sprite is perpetually shown to be armed with the same generic assault rifle as the former human troopers; a weapon similar to this, although presumably intended to be the chaingun, appears on the game's title screen.
Doom/Ultimate Doom
- Fists - No ammo? No problem! Use your unlimited physical strength! Especially good with the berserk pack.
- Chainsaw - Who needs to punch when you can saw demons apart with a spinning blade of fury?
- Pistol - Your default long-range weapon. Try to find a replacement as soon as possible.
- Shotgun - Good for general close range combat. Has a slightly longer than usual reload time.
- Chaingun - Very good for ripping through hordes of demons. However, uses up a lot of ammo, so use wisely.
- Rocket launcher - Shoots explosive rockets. Great for gibbing large, close groups of demons, but also can hurt you if you are not careful.
- Plasma gun - Shoots pulses of blue-hot plasma at high speed which can take down crowds of incoming enemies easily, if you know what you are doing.
- BFG 9000 - The big gun. Get it and see for yourself!
Doom II/Final Doom
Doom II and Final Doom contain all of Doom's weapons, with the addition of:
- Super shotgun - A double-barrelled, sawed-off shotgun which takes a bit to reload, but at close-range is even more deadly than the regular shotgun.
Doom 3
All of the original weapons were given upgrades. Plus there were some new ones:
Skulltag
Skulltag supports a few extra weapons that can be added to Skulltag maps:
- Minigun - Even faster than the chaingun, but has a cooldown pause when the trigger is released, and no first-shot accuracy.
- Grenade launcher - Fires bouncy, explosive grenades.
- Railgun - Fires hitscan rails that pierce lines of enemies.
- BFG 10,000 - Unleashes rapid-fire, hitscan bolts with splash damage for massive destruction.
