The whiplash appears front-left.

The whiplash is a new monster occurring in Doom Eternal. It is a vaguely humanoid demon which has been reduced to its head, arms, and upper torso and attached to a cybernetic serpentine tail. It has multiple means of attack: it carries a flaming chain which it can use as a whip, it has a sharp appendage on the end of its tail, and it also has two lethal, claw-like blades which are either attached to or sometimes carried in its hands. The demon has red glowing eyes, two backward-curving goat-like horns, and has an exposed brain.

According to an interview with art director Hugo Martin, whiplash demons are female.

Tactical analysis

The whiplash attacks from range with its whips and is able to slither quickly along the ground.

Lore

The Whiplashes were initially discovered by the UAC in the Sanctum Wastelands, and became subjects of interest on account of their agility and the bladed whips concealed within their forearms. Despite the danger of acquiring living specimens, UAC researchers successfully managed to craft cybernetic augmentations to further boost their lethality.
