Whitemare is a 19-level megawad created by members of the Russian Doom community, released on March 2, 2011. It has 18 regular levels and one outro level in MAP17. Many of the levels were made during speedmapping contests held in 2010. Many of the maps are themed around the winter season. The maps themselves are Boom compatible, though due to the presence of OGG and MP3 format music, a more modern port (i.e. PrBoom+, ZDoom, Eternity) is required. A 32-level sequel, Whitemare 2, was released in 2014.

Content

Custom monster

The mod includes one custom boss enemy named Mogor, a cartoon character with a big head that shoots cacodemon fireballs. It occurs only in MAP32, replaces the Wolfenstein SS, and takes a massive 10,000 hit points to kill.

Built-in demos

This WAD features three built-in demos. All require Doom II v1.9 to view them. The demo levels are:

Demo Level Skill Tics Length
DEMO1 MAP11: Nord Keep 4 5541 2:38.31
DEMO2 MAP03: Sacrifice 4 3345 1:35.57
DEMO3 MAP15: Arctic Heart 4 1566 0:44.74
