The title given to this article is incorrect due to technical limitations. The correct title is #zdoom.

#zdoom is a Doom channel, not officially related to any project, nor specifically related to ZDoom. It is largely the most populated Doom-related channel, averaging around 50 users at any given time.

Originally created on Freenode as an alternative to #doom, it was operated by Kurt Kesler until given to James "Quasar" Haley. Perceived oppression by Freenode staff lead some users to move to a channel of the same name on OFTC, which was founded by Bill "Bloodshedder" Koch in April 2003. The originally channel eventually collapsed entirely, and most Doom channels eventually followed #zdoom into the new network.
