Zombie Horde is a multiplayer mod for Doom II and the Skulltag and Zandronum source ports, originally created by David Bernardi (Xsnake). The mod pits two opposing teams against one another: the humans and the zombies, the former seeking to survive the onslaught of the latter, as the zombies attempt to infect every human player on the map. It comes with two different gamemodes: Survival, where the humans have to try and hold out for a set time limit in order to win, as the zombies have to instead eliminate the opposing team to achieve victory; and Escape, where the objective is for the humans to reach the exit of a level as the zombies try to stop them.
Development for Zombie Horde began in 2007 and its first public release was unveiled to the public in 2010. The latest main version, build 28, dates to April 2015. XSnake also coordinated the release of two expansions, dubbed mappack and testpack respectively, with another expansion, new mappack, also releasing later. Zombie Horde has grown to become one of the most popular Zandronum mods, and has inspired a series of fan addons.
