Ahzrak and Witch is the final boss battle of Doom: The Dark Ages, in which Prince Ahzrak, in his base form, and the Witch are fought together as they attempt to take down the Doom Slayer in a last stand. The battle takes place aboard a large Hell carrier floating above the Dark Realm.
Tactical analysis[edit]
Stage 1[edit]
In the first stage, Ahzrak and the Witch fight as a team and have a shared health bar. One of the bosses will be shielded at all times; the shielded boss will attack less frequently, but should not be completely ignored. The bosses will take turns at being shielded over the course of the fight so you will have to change targets every so often. Both bosses are vulnerable to being stunned, so stay close to them and use the super shotgun and dreadmace to quickly build the stun bar for some easy glory strikes.
Like in the previous level, Ahzrak uses his spear for melee combos, but these are not as fast or aggressive as before; he can also throw orange waves which track your position and can be blocked with the shield saw. The Witch throws purple orbs and can push you back with a blast of cosmic energy if you are too close; she can also move to the edge of the room and project electrical arcs from her hands, which will cause rifts to appear in the middle of the room that release more purple orbs. The Witch frequently dashes and teleports so you may wish to use shield charges to stay close to her.
At 50% health, Ahzrak can move to the middle of the room, shield himself and then spray fireballs in all directions, which you can sidestep or jump over. Once the bosses’ health is depleted, perform an execution on the Witch to finish her off.
Stage 2[edit]
Once the Witch has fallen, Ahzrak will restore his health and continue fighting alone. He will now add thrusting attacks to his repertoire, as well as a quick slash that cannot be parried, but otherwise there are no changes to his tactics. Continue to stay close to Ahzrak and parry his attacks whenever possible to build his stun meter, which will give you some free hits. Once Ahzrak’s health is depleted, perform an execution on him to end the battle and the game.
