Altitude is a single-level PWAD for Doom II, created by Thomas Seifert (tourniquet) and released in December 2016. It uses the music track "E1M1SAS" by Zan-zan-zawa-veia. Additionally, it includes the music track "Brundle" for the title and intermission screens, also by Zan-zan-zawa-veia. Altitude is a vanilla-compatible map that is built exclusively using textures from Doom and Doom II, and combines a realistic cityscape with abstract, dreamlike visuals in a highly non-linear map. It was released on the same month as another large single-map release by tourniquet, Miasma.

In 2024, Altitude was included in the Missed Cacowards 2.

Secrets[edit]

  1. When you take the lift down to the central field, go to the first crate and lower it to reveal a switch. Press it and head south to a plasma gun. (sector 60)
  2. At the northeast nukage area, go to the north side, shoot the barrels, and use the red light. Head to the south end which you can drop into to find the red key, medikits, stimpacks, a plasma gun, energy cell packs, health bonuses, energy cells, and several switches to press. (sector 228)
  3. As you flip the switches in Secret #2, when the northeast alcove is open, enter it and use the blue light to the west. Quickly run to the southwest to get a megasphere. (sector 196)
  4. After flipping several switches in Secret #2, head south towards the teleporter but hug the slimefall to the east as you do to find another switch. This reveals a teleporter. Enter it and a switch will be in front of you. This will lower the nearby computer, revealing another switch. This switch will lower the lift behind you which leads to a BFG9000. (sector 130)
  5. Enter the central tower and flip the switch to lower the north window. Run and jump northeast from the window to a ledge, then quickly turn south and shoot a switch on the tower. Open the door to the north and take the northeast lift up to get health bonuses and a computer area map. (sector 295)
  6. In the central field, on the ledge to the right of the central tower, flip the switch. Run off to the southwest and take the lift up to get a berserk pack and rockets. (sector 299)
  7. In the nukage at the east end, head to the southwest slimefall. Go through it, flip a switch, and take a lift. In this room, use the beige crate from the north end to get a megaarmor. (sector 339)
  8. Enter the south building and find the red switch at the top of some steps. This reveals some blood to the east. Go to it to lower the blood, and as it does, head north to where a cyberdemon is. Use the switch here twice to fully raise the lift, then leave and head back to the entrance of the south building. Lower the lift to the west and ride up. Look out of the north window and shoot the button above the barrels to reveal a megaarmor in the southwest corner. (sector 400)
  9. After grabbing the red key, head south to the halls with blood and go to the northwest corner where there is a damaged wall. Shoot it open to find a soul sphere. (sector 500)
  10. At the south end, raise the steps to the north side of the wooden hall and open the door there. Use the picture on the north wall to lower a lift. Ride it up to get to an energy cell pack. (sector 528)
  11. At the northwest intersection, head to the southwest end, press the switch, then use the vent to the west. Use the switch behind it. Head to the northwest room with the blue floor and to the northeast part, finding a small button on the left. Leave to the east and enter the northeast room, finding a small button on the west side of the north panel. Pressing these three hidden switches will unlock the blue key in the northwest room. (sector 789)
  12. Getting the blue key lowers the room, allowing you to head further west. Enter the inner room where the steps are and climb to the top. Look out of the west window and spot a button in the distance. Shooting it lowers a big crate on the south wall, revealing a switch to lower the central crate with a megasphere. (sector 961)
