Ancestral Forge is the ninth level of Doom: The Dark Ages. The Doom Slayer can use the forge to enhance his shield saw, but he must power its heart first.

This level introduces the shield rune mechanic, as well as wraithstones for the final weapon upgrades.

Lore[edit]

The Sentinels built the Ancestral Forge around the remains of an Ancestral called Eligas the Wise, who was struck down with a colossal blade during a battle with Tharok the Mighty. Within the forge, the Sentinels extract Eligas’ blood and distill it into arcane fuel; this blood can then be imbued with energy from the sword to bestow otherworldly power.

Challenges[edit]

The first and second challenges award 50 gold each, while the third challenge unlocks the “Reverent” skin for the accelerator.

Nothing but Nade: Score 10 direct hits with the grenade launcher weapon
Sawed Off: Lock down demons with the shield saw for 20 seconds total
Seven Secrets: Discover seven secret areas
