Description[edit]
The Argent Energy Tower, also known as the Argent Inductor, was completed in 2127. The main purpose of the tower is to harvest Argent plasma directly from the Argent Fracture, convert and refine it into usable Argent energy, and then send the resulting energy packets to Earth's Global Energy Distribution Matrix.
The design of the Argent Energy Tower was based on the design of Gauss cannons, stated to have been first prototyped in the late 20th century. The actual methods by which the tower functions are well-guarded trade secrets of the UAC. Some speculate that the design was in fact influenced by or derived directly from information found in artifacts located near the Fracture.
Mission 05: Argent Tower[edit]
Pursuing Olivia to the Argent Energy Tower, the Doom Slayer learns from VEGA that all the primary access points have been destroyed leaving a pipeline as the only means of entry. After acquiring a pair of Delta V jump-boots, the Slayer fights his way to the base of the tower before scaling the machinery inside it to reach the top level. The Slayer reaches the top just as Olivia ruptures the Argent accumulator she is carrying before throwing herself into the Argent beam, tearing open the portal to Hell; the Slayer fights off the demons that emerge from the portal for as long as possible, only to be pulled through it.

Trivia[edit]
It is possible to completely skip the Delta V jump-boots by climbing onto short walls to be able to jump up onto ledges that would otherwise require a double jump, then using a buffered railboost to be launched to the top of the tower, where the Gauss cannon can be picked up. The high recoil of the weapon can be used to propel the player upwards, thus effectively replacing the double jump functionality of the boots and allowing to beat the entire rest of the game without picking them up.[1]
