The Box of a Thousand Demons is a 32-level megawad for Doom II and Boom-compatible source ports, created by Thelokk. It uses the OTEX texture pack, and sports a title screen and intermission screen by Knifeworld, and a DeHackEd patch by StorkGreen. Citing Scythe 2 and the Japanese Community Project as influences, the megawad contains a variety of visual styles, steep difficulty spikes, and a breadth of gameplay types, ranging from slaughter to NoMo. Development began in March 2022, the first version was released at the Doomworld forums on July 25, 2022,[1] and the final version was released to the /idgames archive on August 5, 2022. A minor update followed on March 23, 2023, fixing visual glitches and adding demos and a custom status bar. The megawad received a honorable mention at the 2022 Cacowards.
