CRY (formerly Yaguar Doom) is a source port recreation of the Atari Jaguar port of Doom, developed by Julia Nechaevskaya.
In comparison to Calico, CRY does not attempt to be an accurate back port. Indeed, it features a codebase descended from Nechaevskaya's another port International Doom, notably using the DOS source code for the collision detection, as well as various quality-of-life features notably found in International Doom.
The name is both a reference to the Jaguar's CRY color scheme and Nechaevskaya's yet another port CRL.
Features[edit]
- True color rendering
- Colored lighting
- Up to x6 (1200p) rendering resolutions
- Uncapped framerate
- F12 to switch between Jaguar and Doom palettes
- Weapon mechanics, damage formula, monsters behavior and Nightmare mode exactly based on the Jaguar port
- Recreation of the Jaguar port's quirks into the new codebase
- Ability to switch music playback between the PC and Jaguar modes (the latter emulating the port's infamous limitation of music playback only during intermissions), with music packs based on the Jaguar and Sony PlayStation ports available
