This article is about the monster in Doom: The Dark Ages. For other games, see:

The cacodemon is a returning enemy which occurs in Doom: The Dark Ages. Two specimens can be briefly seen hovering in the background of a scene in the reveal trailer released on June 9, 2024. In this incarnation, they more strongly resemble the original spider mastermind rather than a cacodemon, but have tentacles instead of legs. It is said that they are hybrids of demons and the denizens of the Cosmic Realm.[1] A cacodemon can generate a psychic shield to protect itself or launch it as a projectile, and strikes with its tentacles at close range.

Lore[edit]

Once part of Hell's demonic hierarchy, these demons have been corrupted by The Witch's eldritch power. They are fragments of a hive mind that wander the lowlands, looking for minds to consume so that they can feed their gods with twisted thoughts and memories.

Executions[edit]

The following execution animations exist:[2]

  • From the front and above the Slayer slams his shield into the cacodemon's face, causing him to fall.
  • From behind and above, the Slayer lands on the cacodemon's back and stabs the creature with his shield saw, causing it to spurt blood, before the Slayer pulls out his shield.

Pre-release[edit]

  • The monster was first identified as the cacodemon by Bethedsa on April 8, 2025.[3] Before this, it was speculated to be a new monster entirely, possibly a flying version of the arachnotron.
