Collector is a novelty speedrunning playstyle that originated in the Compet-N contests.[1] The initial ruleset was for demos to be recorded on UV with monsters and to collect at least one of every weapon. Later on, the Czech speedrunning community repurposed the category for their Czech-N competition, with rule changes to use no monsters mode and to collect keys as well as weapons.[2] However, due to a mistranslation, the keys rule was dropped again when the category picked up some traction for Doom Speed Demo Archive submissions, so Collector demos recorded after the Czech-N competition ended were recorded with no keys requirement. This category was never accepted in the standard Compet-N database, and is no longer accepted on DSDA, although existing Collector demos will remain on the archive, so the current ruleset is unclear.
