Technical information[edit]

Inspiration and development[edit]

Although this map made its debut in the Enriched Edition, it was in fact one of the first maps to be designed during the development of episode 1. Very early on in development, it was planned to fill the MAP02 slot, and would have involved an infiltration of a ruined, mutant infested electric dam after a short sequence passing through a wooded area. Very early screenshots of this pre-alpha, 2015 layout can be seen on page 31 of the original forum thread.

Ultimately, it was decided the idea be scrapped, partly for story reasons and partly because some of the technical elements planned for the map proved difficult to solve at the time. Eventually, to coincide with the updated features imported from Afterglow, sections from the original map were modernized, completed and released as a "bonus" map in 2021.
