Forest Swords is an eight-level episode replacement for Doom II designed for limit removing source ports, created by various members of the Doomer Boards community, led by Jon Vail (40oz). It is the third entry in the ongoing Doomer Boards Projects. Work on the project was carried out during May 2018. It was first released on Doomer Boards on June 1, 2018, and uploaded to the idgames archive on June 12 of the same year. The mapset features a forest and mountainous outdoors theme.

Project timeline[edit]

  • April 27, 2018 - Jon Vail (40oz) created the development thread for DBP03. A resource pack was shared which included two unfinished maps.
  • May 1 - The resource pack was updated to v2, which included fixes for a few textures and sprites.
  • May 7 - Michael Jan Krizik (valkiriforce) submitted "The Chapel".
  • May 16 - 40oz submitted "Guerilla Skeletons" and "Crisis Center".
  • May 19 - 40oz submitted "Canyon Crawl" and "Forest Fort".
  • May 20 - AnonimVio submitted "It Doesn't Have a Name".
  • May 21 - Mark McGill-Smith (TheMisterCat) submitted "The Valley".
  • May 30 - Ilya Lazarev (joe-ilya) submitted a map titled "NV" but it was not accepted because the deadline passed on May 28.
  • June 1 - Release of DBP03: Forest Swords.

It is unknown when exactly Glen McColl (glenzinho) submitted their map, it happened sometime before May 28.

  • As with the previous DBP, the theme was decided by popular vote via a poll held on Doomer Boards. However, the choice of potential themes was reduced from the previous poll.
  • The project's title is a reference to the English DJ of the same name.
  • The intermission screen features a still of Arnold Schwarzenegger from the 1987 film, Predator.
