Xenomorph Base is a six-level mapset for Doom II designed for limit removing source ports created by various members of the Doomer Boards community, led by Jon Vail (40oz). It is the fourth entry in the ongoing Doomer Boards Projects and features a techbase theme inspired by the aesthetic of Swiss artist H.R. Giger, specifically his work on the 1979 film Alien. It was released on the Doomer Boards forums on July 1, 2018, and uploaded to the /idgames archive on July 3.

Trivia[edit]

  • The theme for the project was decided by popular vote via a poll held on the Doomer Boards forums. The two losing themes (Aurora Borealis and Hell Revealed 3) would end up being used in future DBPs.
  • This is the first DBP where mappers were allowed to choose their own custom music for their map. Previous DBPs required mappers to choose from the music provided in the resource pack.
