Emerald City is a 16-level megawad for Doom II designed for limit removing source ports created by various members of the Doomer Boards community, led by LunchLunch, in his first DBP as project lead. It is the 50th entry in the ongoing Doomer Boards Projects. Work on the project was carried out during July 2022. The first version was released on August 1, 2022.[1] After some bugfixing the final version was uploaded to the /idgames archive on August 14 of the same year. The maps are themed around cities being conquested by plants and animals after the fall of Man.

Content[edit]

The mod uses a DeHackEd patch to create custom decorations and ambient sounds to fit its theme.

Built-in demos[edit]

This WAD features three built-in demos. All require Doom II v1.9 to view them. The demo levels are:

Trivia[edit]

  • The opening scene of MAP01: The Passage is meant to depict the image shown in the INTERPIC graphic.
  • "Laura's Theme" was originally intended to be used as the music for the end credits but the first release candidate uses "Legendary Theme" from Gitaroo Man instead as segfault mistakenly believed it was being used in MAP08. It was reverted back to "Laura's Theme" in subsequent releases.
