Doom: Repercussions of Evil

Doom: Repercussions of Evil is a Doom fan fiction written by user Peter Chimaera and initially published on June 25, 2002. It was removed by moderators for its intentionally and exceedingly poor grammar, spelling, and style, but eventually gained cult status and spawned popular Internet memes. It features a marine named John Stalvern facing demons in a UAC base after failing to heed the warnings of his father, and eventually becoming a zombie.

Peter Chimaera is a fictional personality created by Tom White (Hyena), and is officially described as:

". . . your typical fanfiction nut who never read anything with more than 15 pages, has an attention span of about 6 minutes depending on what he's eaten in the past 12, and despite having English as a first language, just can't figure out those pesky rules of spelling and grammar. Throw in the fact that he only has a vague understanding of the setting and characters in these stories, never proofreads, and never quite understood what the word 'plot' really means. Now you have a pretty good idea about what's wrong with Peter Chimaera."
―Tom White [1]

Doom: Repercussions of Evil remains Chimaera's only Doom fanfic. However, he has written fanfic for other series, such as The Matrix Return, Castlevania: Wisps of Dracula and Batman: Nemesis Fight, all of which are written with similarly poor knowledge of the English language and the canon he is writing in. He has also written and self-published two books, Peter Chimaera book of hsitorical faFfiction [sic] and Dracula 2010 and other things bu Peter Chimaera [sic], both of which can be purchased and downloaded from the self-publishing website Lulu.

While initially being little known, the fanfic eventually had a YTMND by the same title created by user Orlics, featuring a reading of the text along with a screenshot of the original publishing on This was popularized through Encyclopedia Dramatica and the /b/ board on

Responding to the sudden rise in interest, White republished the story along with Chimaera's other removed works on a new site. Since that time, numerous YouTube videos, Garry's Mod movies, and Flash animations of the story have been created.

The most infamous series of lines in the story which have spawned an Internet meme are the following:
"'No! I must kill the demons' he shouted
The radio said 'No, John. You are the demons'
And then John was a zombie."
