Pre-release[edit]
Some information regarding the expansion was drip-fed by id and Bethesda, particularly by creative director Hugo Martin via the "Slayers Club Live" streaming events:
Combat[edit]
- Master Arenas may implement something similar to Doom Eternal's Slayer Gates or Escalation Encounters.
- Mobility will play a major role in the DLC.
- A secret weapon that will require work to unlock. The weapon is "tied to a meaningful piece of lore, that [id is] going to share with us."
- The DLC skill ceiling is super high.
- Quickswapping tech in the DLC, but in a way that must be earned. "It's done in a way that you aren't anticipating."
- Spear weapon will allow dashing. "You could maybe dash evade and stab with something."
Exploration[edit]
- Players will see more of the Cosmic Realm.
- There will be a hub area, the Kreed Maykr's ship, which will "expand in meaningful ways."
- Exploration will have a stronger role in overall progression.
- Challenges will also be based on combat, exploration and puzzles.
- DLC will be more "Metroidvania-esque", with significant backtracking.
- Additional mobility options will be available, and some sections will require them.
- Roughly 30% of content will be inaccessible until the DLC's story is completed.
- Expected to be large. "It's basically like a sequel", according to Hugo.
Lore[edit]
- The Khan Maykr will return.
- Nika Futterman will be reprising her role as voice actor.
- Daisy will make an appearance.
- Major lore questions fans have asked about will be pushed forward.
- Teases relating to the Night Sentinel civil war, the Wretch, and "armor".
- Some connections to Doom (2016) will be explained.
- Marok will have a role in the DLC.
- Cutscenes will be more immersive, possibly in first-person.
- The Order of the Six (the High Council) are likely targets.
- Darin De Paul (voice of Hayden/Kreed) returns in the DLC.
- The story is more of an experience than something simply watched, with more environmental storytelling.
- Codex entries will not necessarily be longer, but will be more worthwhile to collect and read.
Ripatorium 3.0[edit]
- Ripatorium 3.0 will launch alongside the DLC.
- Slots to save personal encounters.
- More Ripatorium maps.
- Togglable instant respawns for waves.
- Easier way to share encounters.
