Doom: The Dark Ages (Original Game Soundtrack)
From DoomWiki.org
The original game soundtrack for Doom: The Dark Ages was released on May 14, 2025. It includes 35 tracks and is composed and performed by Finishing Move Inc., composers comprised of Brian Trifon, Brian Lee White, Jay Wiltzen, and Alex Klingle and published by Bethesda Softworks.
Elements of thrash metal, modern deathcore, early doom metal and Swedish black metal bleed into brutal guitar breakdowns and downtempo grooves, while traditional folk instruments such as the Nordic bass tagelharpa, balalaika, and massive animal hide drums are combined with modern synths and a choir for a dark and gritty sound. The soundtrack is rife with allusions to the previous games of the Doom series, including material adapted from Bobby Prince's original Doom and Doom II soundtracks, and the main theme from Doom 64.

Design[edit]
Composers Finishing Move grew up playing the original DOOM on DOS and have deep personal ties to dropped tunings and gritty guitar riffs. Working on The Dark Ages felt, to them, like "coming home" but also as an "impossible task" when being compared to previous composers, they have also stated that the OST is their "love-letter" to metal music.[4]
Rather than trying to match past composers, Finishing Move focused on expanding the musical language of DOOM—crafting a more cinematic, broad, and textured sound world that retained Doom's core energy. They aimed to honor historical metal traditions while tailoring different areas of the huge medieval map to distinct sonic identities and instead of imitating Mick Gordon, they aimed to channel the primal power and steered toward expansion rather than imitation, they did DOOM in their own cinematic and metal‐rich sound sculpture grounded through their own artistic roots while also acknowledging Mick Gordon's legacy—"no one could do Mick better than Mick."[5]
Trivia[edit]
Throughout the tracks of the OST multiple Sentinel chants can be heard, which were made by Finishing Move themselves; the most common ones are:[6]
- KAR EN TUK
- FRA GUIN TRA
- RA SAN NIS
- TE VOR MORS
which translate to:
- Rip and Tear
- March Through Fire
- Blood Soaked Blade
- The Charge Begins
