Doomworld Mega Project 2023: Professional Mapper Edition is a community project led by TimeOfDeath and the twelfth installment in the Doomworld Mega Project series. In this project anyone was able to participate by following the established rules. The project was started on January 14, 2023, and for the first time in the series, was hosted on the Doomer Boards rather than the Doomworld forums. The resulting WAD was released on November 1, 2023.
The project had the following rules:
- the levels had to be created for Doom II IWAD and Boom-compatible source port;
- no custom content was allowed;
- no playtesting was allowed, each level could only be submitted once (some mappers have decided to further limit themselves and not use 3D mode in the level editor);
- limit of five levels per person;
- submitted levels were checked by TimeOfDeath, and he corrected any critical errors if necessary.
